To celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's historic 2012
Diamond Jubilee The Woodland Trust want millions of people across the UK to
come together and plant 6 million trees, creating hundreds of Jubilee Woods
and 60 special Diamond Woods.

With the possibility
creation of one of only 60 Diamond Woods in the UK to mark HM the Queens
Diamond Jubilee. Rugby Borough Council
have been working with the Woodland Trust to see if or how Rugby could mark
this Diamond Jubilee with a living lasting legacy in honour of the Queen.
A Diamond Wood is
at least 60 acres of new publicly accessible woodland. The proposed site is
the land off Ashlawn Road below the proposed Cemetery/Crematorium site. It
will be a mixture of native species, open spaces and glades, with a wide
variety of habitats to significantly enhance the biodiversity of the area
and encourage informal recreational uses. You could call it a "Country
is NOT directly linked on the current planning application, but they would
obviously complement each other very well.

this Borough wide public consultation over the Jubilee weekend to see if
this is an initiative that Rugby wants to embrace. We will be using the
