Rugby in Bloom 2015

The Rugby in Bloom campaign
is run by Rugby Borough Council

Rugby in Bloom 2015 was organised by Rugby Borough Council, with support from a host of community organisations, volunteers, businesses and schools.

Entitled ‘BLOOMING MARVELLOUS’, this year’s Rugby In Bloom Awards evening was part of the town’s RUGBY FESTIVAL to celebrate England hosting the Rugby World Cup. Rugby Borough Council built a World Cup Village at the Old Market Place in the town centre. The Rugby in Bloom
event was held on Thursday 17th September in the ‘FANZONE’ as a
prelude to the start of the Rugby World Cup the following day.

WOLVEY was significantly the most represented village winning an unprecedented 10 Awards, they were:-

Gold
- Wolvey Environmental Group - for Wolvey Wetland in the Environmental Awards category
Silver Gilt - Wolvey Village Square – in the Community Awards Category
Silver Gilt - Wolvey Baptist Chapel – in the Community Awards Category
1st
- Wolvey Surgery – in the Shops & Offices Category
3rd
- Wolvey Post Office & Stores – in the Shops & Offices Category
1st
- The Blue Pig – in the Pubs & Hotels Category
1st - Jill Evans, Croft Close – in the First Time Event Category
2nd - Joan Bassett, Croft Close – in the First Time Event Category
2nd - Dr Jennifer Burton, Bulkington Road – in the Medium/Large Garden Category

This year’s themes were Edible Borders and The Rugby World Cup and Wolvey won again with a:-
Special Award and Medal - THE WOLVEY WORLD CUP AWARD - Wolvey Environmental Group for Wolvey Village Square.

This years' Awards were presented by
Guest Speaker James Wong and
The Mayor of Rugby Councillor Richard Dodd.

As each winner receivied their award a picture of their entry
was shown on the huge screen which would later be used
to show live matches during the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
The pictures were also shown on smaller screens all around the room,
four of the screens can be seen here above the bar area.
