The Boardwalk at the Wetland

During the Autumn of 2008 Wolvey Parish Council and a team of enthusiastic local volunteers were engaged in a project to construct a boardwalk through the Wolvey Wetland Reserve.

The 198 metre Boardwalk was built entirely of Recycled Plastic Materials supplied by SECURE-A-FIELD of Coventry, designed & Constructed by the Wolvey Environmental Group and local Volunteers. Recycled plastic has the advantage that it is long-lasting, requires little maintenance and also that it does not need to be treated with preservatives which could leach into the soil of this fragile environment.

The parish council was fortunate enough to receive funding of £10,000 from the BBC Breathing Places and also £10,000 from the Rugby Borough Council Rural Development Fund to provide a boardwalk allowing access through the site for everyone.
