Each year Wolvey enters the Warwickshire's Community Awards (formerly Best  Village) and Rugby in Bloom Competitions.

Warwickshire's Community Awards
In 2012 the Warwickshire Community awards were discontinued.

Rugby in Bloom Awards
Rugby in Bloom is organised by Rugby Borough Council, with support from a host of community organisations, volunteers, businesses and schools.

Wolvey Rugby in Bloom 2016

Rugby in Bloom supports Rugby's entry to the national Britain in Bloom campaign and encourages our communities to brighten up the borough with floral displays.

Rugby in Bloom 2016 celebrated the Queen's 90th birthday and they wanted the borough's parks, gardens and green spaces to be fit for the Queen. Categories catered for gardeners of all ages and abilities, with awards also on offer for schools, businesses and voluntary organisations. Rugby in Bloom 2016 also celebrates the borough's edible gardening project and promoted the 'Enjoy Rugby' theme

WOLVEY once again was well represented village winning 7 Awards, they included
GOLD for the Wolvey Environmental Group and SILVER for Wolvey Village Square.

There were also awards for  Wolvey Baptist Chapel, Wolvey Surgery, The Blue Pig and villagers, Joan Bassett and Carol Emery.

Wolvey Rugby in Bloom 2015

Entitled ‘BLOOMING MARVELLOUS’, this year’s Rugby In Bloom Awards evening was part of the town’s RUGBY FESTIVAL to celebrate England hosting the Rugby World Cup. The event was held on Thursday 17th September in the ‘FANZONE’ as a prelude to the start of the Rugby World Cup the following day.

WOLVEY was significantly the most represented village winning an unprecedented 10 Awards, they included GOLD - for the Wolvey Wetland and SILVER GILT for Wolvey Village Square.

Plus. this year’s themes were Edible Borders and The Rugby World Cup and Wolvey Village Square won again with a
SPECIAL AWARD and MEDAL in THE WOLVEY WORLD CUP AWARD category.

There were also awards for  Wolvey Baptist Chapel, Wolvey Surgery, Wolvey Post Office & Stores, The Blue Pig, Jill Evans, Joan Bassett, and Dr Jenny Burton.

Wolvey Rugby in Bloom 2014

This year the themes were remembrance, to coincide with the centenary of the start of WWI, and edible borders. Special prizes were awarded for the most appropriate and imaginative interpretations of these themes. Thanks to their partners at Blooms and Sutton's Seeds, Rugby Borough Council distributed free poppy seeds to schools, community groups and parish councils. The winners of the Rugby in Bloom Awards were announced at a ceremony at Blooms Rugby Garden Centre on 18 September 2014.

In this year's Rugby in Bloom competition, Wolvey Village Square and Wolvey Old Cricket Field Wetland Reserve were both awarded a GOLD. There were also awards for the Blue Pig - 1st in the Pubs & Hotels category and Wolvey Surgery - 1st in the Shops & Offices category, also Wolvey Post Office & Stores were 3rd in this category. Dr Jennifer Burton was 1st in the medium to Large garden category and the Thatched Cottage, Coventry Road, Wolvey garden was highly Commended in the 1st Time Entry category.

Rugby in Bloom Awards 2013

The 2013 Rugby in Bloom campaign is run by Rugby Borough Council with the co-operation of many local organisations, groups and individuals without whom it would not be possible. Rugby in Bloom celebrates the talents of green-fingered gardeners across the borough, and this year's contest attracted a bumper crop of entries. Awards were presented in a number of categories, including prizes for best small garden, best floral container, and best organic allotment.

In this year's Rugby in Bloom competition, Wolvey Old Cricket Field Wetland Reserve were awarded a GOLD and were the Overall Winner in the Environmental Category and Wolvey Village Square were awarded a Silver in the Community Category.

Wolvey Awards 2012

Rugby in Bloom Awards 2012

2012 saw Rugby in Bloom celebrate both the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the hosting of the London Olympics. There were special displays celebrating both events around the Rugby town centre as well as two new categories for 2012 only, including the best Olympic display and the best Diamond Jubilee Display.

In 2012 Rugby in Bloom competition, Wolvey Old Cricket Field Wetland Reserve were awarded a GOLD  and were OVERALL WINNER in the  Environmental Category and Wolvey Square were awarded a SILVER GILT in the Community Category.

Wolvey Awards 2011

Warwickshire's Community Awards 2011
The competition is open to any group or organisation in a village with no more than 5,000 residents and there are hundreds of pounds to be won. There are six categories:

This year Wolvey was judged to be Warwickshire's Best Village overall for 2011 winning a large cup, £300 in prize money and the Statue of Warwickshire's Bear and Staff which is sited in Wolvey Square for the coming year.


 
Wolvey was also awarded Gold in the  for Communication Category, and Gold in the Sustainable Environment Category.

Rugby in Bloom Awards 2011

Rugby in Bloom is celebrating its 22nd year in 2011. This hugely successful campaign is run by Rugby Borough Council with the co-operation of many local organisations. Entries for this competition can be made by groups, businesses or individuals in a number of different categories.

In this year's Rugby in Bloom competition, Wolvey Old Cricket Field Wetland Reserve were awarded a GOLD in the Environmental Category and Wolvey Square were awarded a SILVER GILT in the Community Category.

Wolvey Awards 2010

Warwickshire Best Village Competition

In 2008, the Warwickshire Rural Community Council introduced a brand new competition to enable individual groups within rural communities to each make their own separate entry to celebrate their achievements. It is no longer intended simply for parish councils to enter. 2010 is the third year that the competition has been run.

In 2010,
Wolvey won GOLD in the Community Projects category, a SILVER Award in the Environment Section and achieved a credible THIRD overall in the Warwickshire Best Village Competition.

Rugby in Bloom Awards

Entries for this competition can be made by groups, businesses or individuals in a number of different categories.

In
this year's Rugby in Bloom competition Wolvey were awarded a GOLD in the Community section for Wolvey Square and a GOLD in the Environment Section. Wolvey were also crowned OVERALL WINNER of the Environment Section and received an engraved Shield to keep and Display for the coming year.

Wolvey Awards 2009

Warwickshire Best Village Competition

In 2009, Wolvey was awarded first prize in the entry in the Environmental Projects section and received £150 prize money. The judges praised the boardwalk project and all the efforts of the volunteers of the environment group. Wolvey was also placed third in the Best Kept Village category.

Rugby in Bloom Awards

Entries for this competition can be made by groups, businesses or individuals in a number of different categories.

In 2009
Wolvey entered two categories and was successful in each. In the Environment category, the environment group were awarded a GOLD for the Wetland reserve. In the Communities section the parish council were awarded a SILVER for the Square.

Calor Village of the Year Competition

The Calor Village of the Year Competition was started in 1997. There are three rounds of the competition- at county, regional and national level. The WRCC has been organising the county level of the competition since its inception. All villages with a population of 5,000 or less can enter.

For the 2009 competition in Warwickshire, Wolvey was awarded first prize for Business in the community and received prize money of £100.
Judges comments were: “The judges were impressed with this entry, but felt the sustainability of the community itself needed to be considered as well as the natural environment”

Warwickshire Best Village Competition
Wolvey were judged to be Warwickshire's Best Village for Communication, and Warwickshire's Best Village for the Environment 2008 in the Warwickshire's Best Village of the Year Competition, and came second overall,

In 2008 'The Square' in Wolvey won a Gold award and Wolvey Environmental Group won a 2nd Prize for 'The Old Cricket Field Wetland Reserve.
