Messy Church is a different way of 'being church'. From humble
beginnings in a single church in Portsmouth in 2004, Messy Church
growth has far surpassed our expectations. There are now over
3000 Messy Churches registered
in more than 20 different countries - and that's just the ones we
know about. We estimate that over 500,000 people attend a Messy
Church each month.
Church provides a way for churches to reach out to and engage with
those on the fringe of the church family, and has proven to be an
effective way of 'being church' in rural, urban and suburban
contexts across different denominations and in different countries.
Messy Church values are about being Christ-centred, for all ages and
based on creativity, hospitality and celebration.
MESSY CHURCH WOLVEY
After two years of planning, prayer and sheer hard work on the part
of the organizing team Messy Church finally came to Wolvey on the 18th
September 2016. 28 Children accompanied by 15 Adults enjoyed an hour
of craft activities centred around the theme "Saying Thank You."
They then enjoyed a session of Christian celebration ably led by
Adrian Warwick assisted by Sallie Fulton, in which the story of the
Ten Lepers was narrated. This was followed by an appetising tea
before everyone went home. It was a super event and will be repeated
on October 16th, then monthly with a different theme each time.
This is a landmark in the development of the churches in the Wolvey
Group and Wolvey Baptist chapel, a considerable venture of our reach
to the children and young families in our villages.
Further Messy Church Sundays are planned for:
2016: Oct 16th, Nov
13th, Dec 11th
2017: Jan 22nd, Feb 19th and Mar 19th
